Donate to Bike it Forward

Bike Barn BIKE IT FORWARD are proud to support many grass roots cycling initiatives to give kids and where possible other riders the opportunity to enjoy the pleasures and health benefits of riding a bicycle.

As a major supporter of The Weet-Bix TRYathlon in conjunction with the Weet-Bix TRYathlon Foundation your donated bike gives Kiwi kids the chance to participate in the TRYathlon by providing them with their very own bike.

We make sure the bike is safe and fit for purpose safe and have also donated hundreds of bikes to schools where many kids simply don’t have a bike to ride. These donated bikes have helped expand the many identified schools small bicycle fleets enabling more kids to enjoy riding on their breaks and as part of their daily curriculum.

In Auckland we are now proud to partner with EcoMatters through their Bike Hubs. The EcoMatters volunteers work with people in their local community to ensure the bike is safe, providing basic guidance and training on routine maintenance covering everything from oiling the chain through to changing a tube or simply explaining how to pump up a tyre. Whilst EcoMatters do on-sell bikes for a token amount they also donate bikes to identified worthy recipients. A condition to this is that these people have to participate in any repair or refurbishment of their bike. For more information about EcoMatters, visit

Bikes can be donated at any Bike Barn store. If you have any queries, call the local store or you can email us at

With a focus on kids, donated bikes need to be between 16 and 24 inches (wheel diameter), suitable for 7 to 12-year-old children and of a reasonable condition.

We thank you in advance for getting behind this awesome community initiative
