Charity Cycle For Youthline New Zealand

Cape to the Bluff, 2500kms to raise awareness and much needed funding for Youthline

With all the rain over the past two weeks it has been nearly impossible to ride a bike safely. According to statistics we have had the largest amount of rainfall on record.  All the damns are full in the South Island so there will be no shortage of water to fill our bottles.

Training at All Seasons Gym is still very consistent and the weight is slowly dropping off which is a result of diet and endurance training.  For every kilo over natural weight it requires a further 5 watts of power especially on the hills. Tony has been riding to work and back and fitting in cardio at the Howick Police station gym, I expect chasing the bad guys is hard enough!

Sponsorship keeps rolling in, we have now received confirmation from Karla at Bike Barn that they will be providing the much needed spare bike.  Some of the local guys from Basalt in Howick have bumped up the sponsorship to nearly $ 4,000.00 Also, one Howick resident has pledged a staggering $ 5,000.00 and we await for confirmation of this. Cycle City has offered much needed spare equipment for the bikes and will put a package together prior to departing Auckland for the Cape.  A big thank you to Kier Robertson of 2020 for designing the logo, Mark Hart of Hart Design for the flyers, Chris Kenstley form Kentsley Mortgages for Agel products, Mark Osbourne for shaking up a few other sponsors and generously pledging $ 1,000.00, the highest cash donation confirmed so far. HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU.

On Thursday Tony and myself were interviewed on Howick Village Radio by Bill Mudgeway, what a nice guy.  He had read the story prior so he knew the right questions to ask, we hope that the community will come forth and we will do a follow up in a couple of weeks.

We still desperately need a van but I'm sure that some considerate person out there will help with this much needed item.

Once again thank you for all your support Fran Jordan, The Pedaling Painter.
